Individual Therapy & Counseling For Anxiety
Life transitions are a constant, and with them often come anxiety. Many women place pressure on themselves to be perfect at work, maintain a clean home, have it all together, all while not getting “too emotional.” Often even if everything in life is technically going okay, there are emotional or attachment needs that are not being met by a partner or those around them, and there is a lingering anxiety or emptiness that seems like it’s specific to only you. Therapy often helps women learn what it is they are really needing and wanting within life and relationships, and how to advocate for those things. Whether you are a mom navigating loneliness, a young woman getting tossed around in the dating scene, or someone simply trying to survive in this world that does not make it easy for women, I am here to help.
In my years of experience working with women experiencing life phase anxiety, I have found that using a mix of client centered therapy, solution oriented conversation, and exposure and response prevention offers a thorough mix of validation, safety, and acceptance, along with problem solving skills that will bring about actual change. Read below for more specifics on these counseling modalities.
Client or Person Centered Therapy prioritizes the therapist being a sounding board so that the client has time and space to explore, vent, and feel heard and seen. This counseling modality trusts that the client is the expert of their own story, and that providing a safe space of unconditional positive regard allows the client to begin the process of change and growth.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is a trusted and evidence based therapy modality that focuses on strengths and what successes the client has already achieved, thereby bringing awareness to what the client is capable of doing already. It focuses on small changes that eventually lead to bigger changes, and empowers the client to take small and consistent action steps.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is often regarded as one of the most effective treatments for severe anxiety, phobias, and OCD. It safely helps the client face fears in a structured way.
